The DARPA Robotics Challenge (DRC) is a prize competition funded by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Held from 2012 to 2015, it aims to develop semi-autonomous ground robots that can do “complex tasks in dangerous, degraded, human-engineered environments.  

DARPA Robotics Challenge: IHMC Atlas Localization Test

Using localization we are able to send a single footstep plan to the robot telling it to walk over the cinder blocks and repeat without adjusting any footsteps. In this video we show atlas walking over and back 10 times without any operator involvement.

JPL’s RoboSimian

Meet RoboSimian, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s official entry at the DARPA Robotics Challenge in December 2013. Also known as “Clyde,” the robot is is four-footed, but can also stand on two feet.
