Big Data refers to data sets so large (exabytes) and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications.

In this discussion hosted by the Milken Institute the following speakers discuss the possibility on using big data to find treatments and cures for disease: Stanford Professor Russ Altman, Microsoft Research Scientist Eric Horvitz and Steve Miller, the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Express Scripts and The Atlantic’s Megan Garber.

The Milken institute: “Our mission is to improve lives around the world by advancing innovative economic and policy solutions that create jobs, widen access to capital and enhance health”.
