Professor Paul Krugman talks at the London School of Economics about the economic situation in the world and in particular the United States after 2008 and provides an outlook of the future.

In his new book, End This Depression Now! Krugman shows how the failure of regulation to keep pace with an increasingly out-of-control financial system positioned the United States and the world as a whole, for the greatest financial crisis since the 1930s. Decrying the tepid response thus far, he lays out the steps that must be taken to free ourselves and turn around a world economy stagnating in deep recession.

This is a follow-up to Niall Fergussons lecture on the future of The Unites States, as to provide different views on the topic.

Event date: 2012-05-29. Location: Peacock Theatre, Portugal Street, London. London School of Economics
