Earth from Space is presented by Kelsea Brennan-Wessels from the ESA Web-TV virtual studios. The Amazon River in the heart of northern Brazil’s rain-forest is
featured this edition.
The image was acquired on 6 July 2012 by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute’s Kompsat-2 satellite and it is featured on the Earth from Space video program.
As ESA underlines, rainforest survailance is important since they are being destroyed worldwideat an alarming rate. A great concern because they play an important role in global climate, and are also the home to a wide variety of plants, animals and insects. With more than a third of all species in the world living in the Amazon Rainforest.
